“If you think a photograph is only worth a thousand words… think again!”
Mark Savage began his career doing what a lot of photographers only aspire to, photographing the world’s top models in London, Paris and New York and working on shoots for Italian Vogue. ‘I just knocked on the door of designers’ studios and offered my services’, says Mark. ‘It took off from there. I photographed for Lagerfeld, Helmut Lang, Prada, Givenchy and many more’.
Mark decided to hone his skills by studying photography at Northumbria University, where he won the Fujifilm National Award, and followed this with a Master’s Degree. This resulted in Mark’s work being shown on art gallery walls in a touring exhibition. He now teaches on the photography degree course at Northumbria University.
As well as weddings, Mark is in demand for his commercial work and has photographed advertising campaigns, catalogues, brochures, documentary, food, interiors and fashion.
‘I’m passionate about my work’, says Mark. ‘Every day is different. I meet interesting people, I visit fascinating places, but I also enjoy working in the studio making sure the shots are perfect. I work entirely with digital cameras and photoshop because this means I can actually improve on reality. If you think a photograph is only worth a thousand words… think again!’
Mark scares himself rock climbing and relaxes by scuba diving.
